In a dramatic turn in the Indian Parliament, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition, has penned a strong letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, protesting his denied chance to discuss national security matters. Gandhi asserts this violation as a significant breach of India’s democratic conventions.

Gandhi's contention arose when he was stopped from speaking during the President's address debate. He pointed out that he had duly authenticated a magazine reference about the India-China conflict of 2020, followed by the convention that the government responds, and the Speaker moderates.

The denial, he states, suggests a deliberate attempt to suppress opposition voices on vital issues. Gandhi emphasized the Speaker's duty to protect all members' rights, warning that such prohibitions against opposition voices set a troubling precedent in parliamentary history.
