Ukraine is intensifying efforts to safeguard Pokrovsk, a strategic hub in Donetsk, from Russian advances. Military analyst Oleksandr Kovalenko underscored the strategic significance of Pokrovsk, stating its capture could pave the way for Russian advances in Donetsk and neighboring Dnipropetrovsk. The Ukrainian military, led by chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, is doubling efforts to identify and neutralize enemy troops exploiting urban areas to avoid direct combat.
The regional administration reported over 1,200 civilians are still sheltered in Pokrovsk, highlighting accusations against Russia for targeting civilian lives—a claim Moscow routinely denies. With firefights intensifying, Ukraine remains committed to saving its soldiers and reinforcing the city’s defenses.
