In a twist of criminal intrigue, Kolkata Police have apprehended two suspects from Odisha in connection to the murder of Rahul Lal, whose body was discovered in a hotel on Park Street, Kolkata. The individuals, identified as Shashikant Behera and Santosh Behera, were detained in Sambalpur.
Authorities suspect that Lal, who had a history of theft and fraud, was entwined with smuggling networks. Initial findings suggest he was strangled, likely a result of a foul dealing over a valuable stolen artifact. The police are keen on untangling the motive through intense interrogation of the suspects, who will be brought to West Bengal on a transit remand.
Evidence from Lal's personal effects led investigators to Odisha, where Lal allegedly planned to sell a recently acquired artifact. Ongoing investigations are focused on recovering the artifact and identifying further participants in this heinous act.
