In a significant development, Ethiopian national Hadush Gerberslasie Kebatu, previously convicted for sexually assaulting a teenager in the UK, has been deported back to his home country. The UK government confirmed his departure on Wednesday, stating it serves as a measure to enhance public safety.
Kebatu arrived in the UK in July, crossing the English Channel amid an increasing influx of unauthorized migrants. His arrest shortly after sparked anti-immigrant protests, notably at the Bell Hotel in Epping, escalating tensions around the country's immigration policies.
The UK administration faces mounting pressure to curb unauthorized migration with tens of thousands making perilous boat crossings this year. The government is also grappling with the need to find alternatives to hotel accommodations for asylum seekers.
