The Karnataka police force recently witnessed a sartorial transformation as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah introduced new navy blue peak caps, discarding the decades-old slouch hats.
Officials describe the change as both 'significant and timely,' aiming to raise personnel morale. The new caps feature a sleek design but omit the constable's service number, now displayed on the shoulder badge. Addressing officers during the launch at Vidhana Soudha, Siddaramaiah expressed that the uniform change intends to elevate the confidence and efficiency of the police force.
Home Minister Parameshwara provided a historical overview, noting that slouch hats were initially adopted from military units in 1973. Despite repeated demands for a new design, earlier proposals faltered. This time, the redesign was personally selected by Siddaramaiah, making today a 'historic day' for the Karnataka police.
