The police initiative involved 2,500 security personnel, 32 armored vehicles, and spanned the Alemao and Penha favela complexes. The operation aimed to curb organized crime in preparation for international gatherings, including the C40 global summit and Prince William's Earthshot Prize event.
The scale and intensity of the operation led to significant disruptions, affecting around 50 health and educational facilities and necessitating changes in public transport routes due to the clashes.
