In the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk, two journalists were tragically killed by a Russian drone strike on Thursday. The incident, condemned by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, has been labeled a war crime by Ukraine's human rights ombudsman.
Identified as Olena Hubanova and Yevhen Karmazin, the journalists worked for Ukraine's state-funded Freedom television channel. The attack occurred while they were in a car at a petrol station, targeted by a Lancet drone, a powerful device often reserved for combating tanks and armored vehicles.
Russia's actions have drawn widespread criticism, with Zelenskiy accusing the nation of using deliberate strategies to silence independent voices in Ukraine. The general prosecutor's office has initiated a war crime investigation as the search for justice continues.
