The motor accident claims tribunal in the region has granted a compensation exceeding Rs 70.60 lakh to Kunal Singh, a software engineer who sustained severe injuries in a 2015 road accident.
The tribunal, led by Presiding Officer Arul Varma, ruled that the accident was a result of negligent driving, significantly affecting Singh's life and future. It emphasized that while financial compensation can't alleviate all the distress faced by Singh, it serves as a means for alleviating some of the hardships brought by his 45% permanent disability.
The tribunal also declared that the driver, the vehicle owner, and Cholamandalam General Insurance are jointly responsible for this settlement, with the insurance company tasked with depositing the full amount.
