A court in Russia's Far East has released Sofiane Sehili, a French cyclist, after convicting him of unlawfully crossing the China-Russia border in his record-breaking attempt across the Eurasian landmass. The court exempted him from a 50,000-rouble fine.

Sehili admitted guilt and was seen in court wearing his cycling gear. All personal belongings, including his foreign passport and electronics, were returned. His journey began in Lisbon and traversed countries including Turkey, Iran, and Mongolia before ending in Russia.

Held in custody earlier, Sehili was reportedly content despite unusual food and limited showers. Sehili, having transitioned from journalism to cycling, seeks adventure and human connection in his journeys.
