Additional Superintendent of Police M P Singh reported that Shailendra, known locally as Shailu and a resident of Rajnagar, poured petrol on himself and ignited it. Swift action by police and home guards prevented a tragic outcome, as they extinguished the flames and transported Shailendra to a medical facility where he was stabilized.
The incident, captured on social media, highlights the tensions between Shailu, described as a habitual offender, and law enforcement. His son, Lakshya Pratap Singh, was believed to be involved in the procession celebrating his recent release from jail.
