Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has expressed his disapproval of efforts to curtail activities of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), calling such moves 'unfortunate'. Speaking during Diwali in Thane, Shinde highlighted the RSS’s nationalist role and dedicated public service.
Shinde’s remarks were in response to the Karnataka cabinet's decision to regulate the RSS’s public presence. Similarly, in Uttar Pradesh, Congress leader Ajay Rai has urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to consider banning the RSS, accusing it of 'anti-national activities'.
Addressing the upcoming civic elections in Maharashtra, Shinde affirmed the impending triumph of the BJP-led Mahayuti coalition, attributing ongoing support to the 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana', a financial aid scheme aiding women's empowerment, initiated during his tenure as Chief Minister.
