Zelenskiy and Kristersson to Discuss Major Swedish Export Deal at Saab
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is set to discuss a potential export deal at Saab with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The talks at Saab's Linkoping factory will focus on the Gripen fighter jet and other defense systems. Sweden previously donated surveillance aircraft to Ukraine, highlighting ongoing defense collaborations.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is scheduled to meet with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson at Saab to discuss a potential export agreement. The focus of the discussions, set at Saab's Linkoping manufacturing hub, will potentially include the Gripen fighter jet, according to Swedish radio.
Saab, known for its production of the JAS 39 Gripen and other military equipment, could see significant collaboration with Ukraine, particularly as the Swedish government has emphasized the role of radar reconnaissance aircraft in combat scenarios. This follows Sweden's donation of two such aircraft to Ukraine last year.
The talks also build on previous discussions between Zelenskiy and Kristersson, where the interest in defense exports was highlighted. Although Gripens' donation isn't immediate, Ukrainian pilots have been testing the jets, signaling potential future exports. Saab has directed all inquiries on this matter to the government.
