In a bid to ensure a smooth and fair election process, approximately 2,000 armed policemen will be deployed for the upcoming bypoll in the Nuapada assembly constituency. This figure is in addition to the existing district police personnel, according to a senior officer.

A security review meeting, led by Odisha DGP Y B Khurania, confirmed the deployment of 14 Central Armed Police Forces companies, 5 OSAP/APR platoons, 35 mobile units, and 18 flying squads. Enhanced security measures will be implemented at 47 booths identified in Maoist-hit areas with helicopters facilitating transport to remote polling stations.

Elections will take place on November 11, following Model Code of Conduct guidelines. Vigilance will be ramped up to curb illegal activities, with intensified patrolling and anti-Maoist operations already underway. The Nuapada bypoll was necessitated by the passing of BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia.
