Escalating Tensions: Settler Violence Threatens Palestinian Olive Harvest
Israeli settlers launched violent attacks on Palestinian olive harvesters in the West Bank, with incidents captured on video. These attacks, part of a growing trend during the harvest season, have drawn international concern. Palestinian health officials report serious injuries among victims, while local protests against the violence persist.
In a disturbing escalation of violence, Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian olive harvesters and activists in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. The recent assault, captured on video, left at least one woman hospitalized with severe injuries, according to Palestinian health officials.
The attack in the town of Turmus Ayya has raised alarms as settler violence in the region worsens. The United Nations and rights groups have expressed growing concerns for the safety of Palestinian farmers as the olive harvest season progresses. UN Human Rights Office head, Ajith Sunghay, highlighted the alarming increase in attacks, noting severe incidents involving armed settlers against Palestinians and foreign activists.
Footage shows masked settlers, some wearing tzitzit, assaulting olive harvesters with clubs. Israel's military and police have yet to comment, while local protests against settler violence continue amid fears of further escalation during the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
