In a strategic move to bolster counter-IED preparedness ahead of the festive season, the Delhi Police conducted a workshop on the National IED Data Management System (NIDMS) for its Bomb Disposal Units. This initiative, held at the Delhi Police Academy in Dwarka, marked a significant collaboration with the National Bomb Data Centre of the National Security Guard.
The NIDMS, a centralized software platform, plays a crucial role in real-time data sharing and analyzing bomb-related information. Developed under the Ministry of Home Affairs, the system aids in recognizing patterns and the modus operandi of anti-national elements, thereby enhancing coordination among security agencies, according to Special Commissioner of Police Devesh Chandra Srivastva.
Over 110 personnel from various departments participated in the workshop. A concurrent 12-day IED Awareness Capsule Course provided both theoretical and practical training to 86 officers, enabling them to handle advanced detection and disposal equipment effectively. The Delhi Police's engagement signifies an increased focus on security measures, crucial for ensuring public safety during the festival period.
