The Bombay High Court has put a travel request by actor Shilpa Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra, under scrutiny due to a Rs 60 crore cheating case lodged against them. The court, on Wednesday, stated the travel plea would only be considered if the couple deposits the entire contested amount.
The case stems from allegations by businessman Deepak Kothari that Shetty and Kundra duped him into investing Rs 60 crore in their venture, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd. The investment, according to Kothari, was diverted for the couple's personal use. The case was filed on August 14 at Juhu police station.
The high court, however, acknowledged the couple's cooperation in the investigation and remarked that they had not been arrested as a result. The court is awaiting further validation of their professional commitments abroad before proceeding on October 14.
