In an escalation of hostilities, Iranian media outlets have claimed strikes against US military aircraft in the Middle East. Press TV released pictures on Saturday suggesting that an Iranian projectile targeted a US CH-47 Chinook helicopter in Kuwait, with no confirmation yet from US authorities.
The Mehr News Agency further alleged that the helicopter was involved in efforts to rescue a fighter jet pilot from an F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft that was downed over Iran. American forces report the successful rescue of one crew member, with the second's status uncertain.
Meanwhile, CNN and other media agencies, after analyzing Iranian-released imagery, confirmed the aircraft's wreckage belonged to the US 494th Fighter Squadron based in the UK. While tensions peak, President Donald Trump downplays diplomatic impacts, asserting current operations should not affect negotiations with Tehran.
