The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced a crucial revision in Jet A-1 aviation fuel prices for March 2026. This adjustment comes after an intensive review of international pricing trends, exchange rates, and local fuel cost dynamics, all influenced by the ongoing conflicts in West Asia disrupting the global energy landscape.

In its latest notification, BERC highlighted that the decision was informed by the average published Platts Rate for Jet A-1 from February 5 to March 4, 2026, the LC settlement dollar rate of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC), and the changing diesel prices impacting tanker transportation costs. The new pricing sets the domestic Jet A-1 rate at BDT 112.41 per litre, inclusive of duties and VAT, while international rates for all carriers are fixed at USD 0.7384 per litre, excluding taxes. The changes take immediate effect from today.

BERC's authority to update consumer aviation fuel prices is derived from the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act, 2003. Following input from BPC and Padma Oil Company Limited, BERC conducted a public hearing, leading to the May 13, 2025, order establishing the pricing methodology. Monthly revisions have continued since, with the latest committee report submitted on March 8, 2026, prompting the current price adjustments after thorough evaluation.
