IndiGo Airlines marked a significant milestone with the safe landing of its flight carrying 176 passengers from Kolkata at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, China, on Monday morning. This event signifies the resumption of direct commercial flights between India and China after a five-year suspension.
Chinese Embassy spokesperson Yu Jing warmly welcomed passengers via a social media post, celebrating the arrival of flight 6E1703 at Guangzhou on October 27. The Airbus A320neo departed from Kolkata Airport Sunday night, arriving in China in the early hours, aimed at facilitating increased trade and tourism.
The airline plans to operate daily non-stop routes between Kolkata and Guangzhou, with additional flights connecting Delhi to Guangzhou and Shanghai soon. The resumption is hailed as pivotal for bolstering India-China relations, fostering economic and cultural exchanges, and fulfilling the leaders' consensus on improving bilateral ties.
