The event, in collaboration with the Consulate General of India in Los Angeles, highlighted the Indian diaspora's growing influence in the region. Traditional lamps were lit, cultural performances flourished, and a special Diwali Proclamation was presented by City Councilmembers.
Attendance included Eric Garcetti, US Ambassador to India, and influential leaders of the Indian diaspora. In a historic moment, the City Hall was illuminated for the first time to celebrate Diwali, symbolizing light, hope, and unity. The Consul General, K J Srinivasa, was warmly welcomed, strengthening ties between local authorities and the Indian mission.
In Washington, President Trump joined Diwali festivities at the White House, extending greetings to Indians and Indian-Americans. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, underscored trade relations, and highlighted regional peace. The White House ceremony, attended by key officials and business leaders, emphasized Diwali's cultural importance and highlighted the close US-India ties.
