Artificial Intelligence (AI) is set to revolutionize India's healthcare sector, providing a strategic pathway to universal health coverage, according to Dr. V K Paul, a member of NITI Aayog. Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Dr. Paul highlighted the importance of leveraging AI in addressing India's diverse healthcare challenges.
At the summit, Dr. Paul emphasized the integration of AI with India's burgeoning digital public health infrastructure. This integration ensures interoperability, real-time analytics, and efficient resource allocation. Additionally, Dr. Paul stressed that AI can enhance primary healthcare, enable early diagnoses, and support data-driven policy making.
Roy Jakobs, CEO of Royal Philips, echoed similar sentiments, stressing the necessity of AI in healthcare systems worldwide due to increasing pressures on health systems.
