A 25-year-old tuberculosis patient named Anuj allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the second floor of a government medical college in Shahjahanpur, authorities reported on Wednesday.
Anuj, hailing from Maholi in Sitapur district, had been receiving treatment in the facility's tuberculosis ward for the past 11 days. His condition had worsened, prompting his family to transfer him to Shahjahanpur for advanced care.
Family members informed police that on Tuesday night, Anuj managed to leave the ward unnoticed and ultimately leaped from the hospital building. The body has been sent for a postmortem examination, and further investigations are ongoing, according to police statements.
