Health experts have raised alarms over the rising incidence of strokes in India, particularly attributing the surge to Delhi's hazardous air quality and sedentary lifestyle. They called for increased awareness and early screenings at a World Stroke Day forum, organized by Mahajan Imaging and Labs.
Padma Shri awardee Dr. MV Padma Srivastava emphasized the impact of prolonged exposure to fine particulate matter, such as PM2.5, which significantly heightens stroke risk, especially for individuals with pre-existing health conditions like diabetes and heart disease.
Dr. Harsh Mahajan advocated for the adoption of AI-enabled healthcare systems, mentioning that AI-driven diagnostics and scans can detect stroke indicators that might go unnoticed. The call is for routine screenings to be part of annual health assessments to combat this growing health issue in India.
