The acting chief medical superintendent of a government hospital in Uttar Pradesh was suspended following a viral video showing him allegedly making a derogatory remark against the state government. He was embroiled in a dispute with political activists over claims of inadequate healthcare facilities.
The incident was sparked when political representatives gathered at Birsinghpur Community Health Centre to protest against the absence of medicines and absenteeism of doctors. In response, Bhaskar Prasad, the acting CMS, reportedly stated that protesters should target the government rather than him. His comments were captured on video and widely disseminated online, provoking local BJP leaders to demand his suspension.
An official inquiry by the additional director (health), Ayodhya division, concluded Prasad’s conduct was inappropriate, resulting in his suspension. While Prasad refuted the accusations, calling them a misunderstanding, a further legal complaint was filed citing misconduct. This controversy unfolded against a backdrop of protests over subpar hospital conditions.
