India's Agriculture Revamp: New Seed and Pesticide Laws on the Horizon

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced on Friday that new legislation focused on seeds and pesticides is on the brink of completion. These laws are expected to be introduced in the upcoming parliamentary session, marking a significant step towards eliminating counterfeit and substandard agricultural products.

During a regional agriculture conference in the northern states, Minister Chouhan emphasized a strategic shift from a singular national conference to tailored regional consultations. This approach addresses diverse agro-climatic challenges across India, acknowledging the vast differences in soil and climate conditions.

Chouhan also highlighted the nation's agricultural achievements, such as India's leading position as a rice producer and significant strides in wheat exports. He stressed the importance of sustainable farming practices and urged states to adapt agriculture roadmaps suited to local conditions, backed by scientific support and comprehensive strategies.
