On Thursday, British International Investment (BII) announced the launch of its British Climate Partners (BCP) initiative. This £1.1 billion program targets energy transition, emphasizing significant investment in Asian economies, notably India.
BII aims to mobilize private capital to promote the shift from coal to renewable energy sources, aligning with India's net-zero targets. The initiative will utilize diverse financing platforms to mitigate risks and attract commercial investors.
The strategy reflects a broader UK shift from aid to strategic investments, with at least 40% of new investments qualifying as climate finance. Additionally, BII aims to enhance its role in markets with a focus on gender-based investing.
