A Ukrainian drone attack struck the Russian city of Syzran, causing partial collapse of an apartment building and resulting in the tragic deaths of a woman and a child, according to regional authorities.
Samara region's governor, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, labeled the attack, which impacted two apartment buildings, as a heinous crime against civilians. "Two people - an adult woman and a child - have died in Syzran following an attack by an enemy drone," he declared in a statement while emphasizing the shared tragedy.
The incident contributes to ongoing tensions, as Ukraine has ramped up assaults on Russian infrastructure amidst stalled U.S.-brokered peace talks. Notably, Syzran hosts a significant oil refinery 1,000 km from the Ukrainian border. Both nations deny targeting civilians, and Ukraine has not yet responded.
