Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has strongly criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal, accusing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's government of neglecting women's safety and dignity. Gupta, while campaigning for the BJP in West Bengal, alleged that women have been left vulnerable under the TMC's 15-year administration.
Gupta claimed that the TMC and its allies have failed the women of the country, allowing corruption and fear to persist. She accused the TMC of neglecting youth employment and alleged that their reign has been marred with terror and exploitation. She believes the TMC's end is in sight, as its members are increasingly afraid.
In a parallel move, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced plans for a "Durga Squad" specifically to safeguard women's interests if the BJP assumes power in West Bengal. Speaking at an election rally, Singh promised a governance emphasis on law and order, proposing the vote as a choice between fear and safety, corruption and growth, hinting at a pivotal electoral change.
