India Boosts Wheat Exports Amid Promising Harvest Expectations
India's government has approved the export of an additional 25 lakh tonnes of wheat, totaling 50 lakh tonnes, due to a favorable stock position and expected robust harvest. India's government has greenlit the export of an additional 25 lakh tonnes of wheat, following favorable stock levels and the prospect of a strong upcoming harvest.
The total export allowance now stands at 50 lakh tonnes of wheat and 10 lakh tonnes of wheat products. This strategic move is intended to boost market liquidity, streamline stock management, and avert distress sales during peak harvest times.
The agriculture ministry forecasts the wheat production for the 2025-26 crop year at 120.2 million tonnes, thanks to increased acreage. The government's commitment to balance farmer and consumer interests remains firm, promoting sustainable growth in agriculture.
