Bangaluru-headquartered certified organic dairy brand Akshayakalpa Organic on Monday announced its foray into Maharashtra with an entry into Mumbai and Pune markets with an investment of around Rs 200 crore over the next four years. ''Currently we are present in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telengana with our organic certified dairy as well as poultry products achieving a revenue of Rs 550-600 crore in 2025-26. Now, we are entering Maharashtra and with a initial product offering of diary products like milk, high protein milk, ghee, paneer, cheese, and curd,'' Akshayakalpa Organic CEO and Founder Shashi Kumar told PTI. In the first year, the company is planning to streamline its logistics, supply chain, distribution with an investment of Rs 50 crore, he said. ''We started working on the farmer program in 2023 in Maharashtra, however, procuring milk will take more time. We expect to begin milk procurement in 2029-30. Till then, all the milk and other milk products are going to come from Hyderabad and from Tiptur in Tumkur district in Karnataka. For this we already have a good company-owned cold chain infrastructure in place in both Mumbai and Pune,'' he added. Once the procurement begins, the company will set up a manufacturing unit near Pune, he stated. ''We will invest another Rs 150 crore for manufacturing and the farmer extension program taking the total investment Rs 200 crore. We expect the Maharashtra market to begin contributing to our topline when begin milk procurement in the state,'' he added. On future expansion plans, Kumar said, ''For the next 5-7 years we will be focused on strengthening our existing market as well as Maharashtra.'' Currently, the company has three manufacturing units in the three states it operates in.
