On Friday, Bajrang Dal members staged a protest outside the District Collector's Office in Nashik, expressing outrage over allegations of religious conversion and sexual harassment at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in the city. The protest follows TCS's decision to allow employees at their Nashik branch to work from home, citing safety concerns amid the unfolding scandal.
Amid rising tensions, women organized a 'Ranragini Jan Akrsoh' bike rally to spotlight the alleged incidences at the TCS office. BJP MLA Devayani Farande criticized the actions, stating they violate the Indian Constitution. Farande demanded serious consequences, including revoking nationality and implementing severe legal actions against those involved.
Police investigations have revealed that repetitive complaints from victims were reportedly ignored by the accused, who allegedly suppressed these reports. An employee named Nida Khan is described as the 'mastermind' behind this cover-up. Investigators uncovered 78 'suspicious' communications, including calls, emails, and chats, hinting at possible financial dealings.
Despite being part of the internal POSH committee, the accused are alleged to have discouraged victims from pursuing their complaints. Nine cases, including one men's account of harassment and attempted religious conversion, have been filed at various police stations. Ashwini Chainani, a key operational manager, has been remanded to judicial custody, while TCS Chairman N Chandrasekaran vows full cooperation with the ongoing probe.
The Tata Group has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward any misconduct, ensuring all involved parties are thoroughly investigated to uphold their ethical standards. Chandrasekaran emphasized that these allegations are treated with the utmost seriousness, showcasing the company's commitment to resolving the troubling issue.
