New Warfare Evolution: Ukraine Fuses Drones with Infantry in War Against Russia
Ukraine's Defence Ministry has introduced a novel operational model integrating drone and infantry warfare, resulting in significant territorial gains from Russia. The approach marks a crucial shift in the four-year-old conflict, seeing retaken territories in the south, and disruption of Russian offensives in the east.
Ukraine's Defence Ministry announced a strategic shift in its military operations on Wednesday, incorporating drone warfare with infantry tactics to reclaim territory from Russian forces in the country's south. This new model, highlighted by top commander Oleksandr Syrskyi's reports, has resulted in significant territorial recoveries.
Drones have assumed vital importance in the ongoing conflict between Kyiv and Moscow, a war now in its fourth year. Both nations are pouring resources into drone technology and related air defense enhancements. Ukraine's Defence Ministry clarified on Telegram that their novel approach merges aerial and ground unmanned systems with infantry.
Syrskyi specified that recaptured areas include sections around Pokrovsk, a contested eastern city. As Russia intensifies offensive operations, Ukraine is counterattacking, having reclaimed 480 sq km since January. The Defense Ministry noted increased strikes on strategic targets to hinder Russian financial and military capabilities.
