The Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd has called on power distribution companies to accelerate the installation of solar rooftops across the state under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. The initiative is designed to supply SC and ST communities with solar systems, advancing clean energy and lessening electricity expenses.

Special Chief Secretary (Energy), K Vijayanand, highlighted that the state has adopted the Utility-Led Aggregation model to facilitate this transition. Already, solar rooftops have been set up for 20,636 SC and ST households. This project not only aims to lower electricity bills but also supports environmental goals and local employment.

Progress is evident with over 1.2 lakh households across the state benefiting from the solar connections. The installations span different jurisdictional areas, reflecting diverse engagement. Plans to extend this eco-friendly scheme to eligible BC beneficiaries under subsidized terms are underway, broadening its impact.
