Empowering Transgender Community: Telangana Government Launches Skill Development Initiative

The initiative seeks to promote economic self-reliance and dignity among transgenders by providing them with viable employment opportunities.

The Telangana government has rolled out a new skill development programme targeting the transgender community. The initiative, launched on Saturday, aims to equip transgender individuals with training in various fields such as drone piloting, hotel management, and car driving.
Adluri Lakshman Kumar, the State Minister for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Senior Citizens, and Transgender Persons, inaugurated the programme. He emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the long-standing social and economic challenges faced by transgender individuals.
An official statement highlighted that 91 transgender persons would benefit from targeted training across three areas. The government has earmarked Rs 17.72 lakhs for these endeavours, creating new avenues for employment and self-reliance in sectors like hospitality and transportation.
