Rosatom's Strategic Withdrawal Amid Iran Crisis

Russia's state nuclear enterprise, Rosatom, has increased its evacuation efforts at the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran. According to Russian news reports, 198 additional staff members were evacuated on Saturday.

The evacuations have been part of a broader strategy since the conflict in Iran began in late February. Rosatom's decision gained urgency after an announcement from the International Atomic Energy Agency revealed that a staff member had been killed by a projectile fragment. Additionally, infrastructure on site experienced damage from shockwaves.

Alexei Likhachev, Rosatom's chief, noted that the deteriorating conditions at the plant align with the worst-case expectations. The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has been made aware of these developments, indicating the gravity of the situation.
