In a groundbreaking achievement, Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) in Kandla has set a new benchmark in India's maritime sector by handling over 160 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) of cargo for the fiscal year 2025-26. The port has secured its place as India's premier major port, boasting the highest-ever cargo volume handled by any major port in the nation's history.

The port's impressive growth, from 150 million tonnes last year to 160 million tonnes this year, marks a 7% year-on-year increase. This feat underscores the tireless efforts of DPA's leadership, employees, dock workers, trade unions, and other stakeholders, who have propelled the port to become a symbol of operational excellence and national pride.

While the port witnessed decreases in certain commodities, such as Timber, Salt, and Coal, these shortfalls were offset by increased volumes in Container traffic, Fertilizers, and Liquid Cargo, allowing Kandla Port to surpass the 160.11 Million Ton mark. Celebrations were held across various locations to honor this achievement, with Chairman Sushil Kumar Singh expressing gratitude to the entire port community and dedicating this success to their unwavering commitment.
