The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Puducherry announced on Friday a formal seat-sharing agreement for the looming April 9 Assembly polls. The All India N R Congress (AINRC) plans to contest 16 constituencies, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will aim for 10 seats.
Following a strategic meeting with Union Minister and BJP leader Mansukh Mandaviya, Puducherry's Chief Minister and NR Congress leader, N Rangasamy, affirmed the continuation of their crucial alliance. Reinforcing their united front, Puducherry BJP tweeted, "NDA rule in Puducherry is once again assured," highlighting the successful seat-sharing accord.
On the other front, the opposition Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) formed a seven-member committee to explore alliance possibilities with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Their political maneuvering is part of preparations for the Assembly elections scheduled for April 9, followed by vote counting on May 4.
