The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has praised the Andaman and Nicobar Islands administration for outstanding performance in mandatory biometric updates and adult enrolment verification. UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar, while visiting the islands, highlighted the Union Territory's achievements in these areas, noting logistical challenges like difficult terrain and connectivity.
Kumar further noted the impressive milestone reached by the islands, being the only state or Union Territory to verify residents over 100 years of age. He emphasized the need for better coordination between UIDAI and local officials to enhance service delivery and ensure every resident can efficiently access Aadhaar services.
The CEO also introduced recent technological advancements, including the new Aadhaar mobile application, which facilitates digital identity management. Additionally, UIDAI has launched a 'bug bounty programme' to strengthen cyber security, enlisting ethical hackers to identify system vulnerabilities. Kumar stressed the importance of timely biometric updates for children to prevent authentication problems in exams and welfare initiatives.
