Amidst preparations for the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct has led to increased vehicle checks in Tiruchirappalli district. Authorities have intensified inspections at major junctions and along the Trichy-Madurai National Highway to curb illegal activities.
Joint operations by Flying Squads and Static Surveillance Teams have been active on the Trichy-Chennai National Highway, stopping vehicles to check for unaccounted cash, liquor, and inducements meant to sway voters. Strict measures are being enforced with officials seizing cash in recent inspections.
The district administration has urged public compliance during these checks, warning of legal consequences for violations as the state prepares for elections on April 23. The battle for assembly control is set between the DMK-led SPA and the NDA, featuring debutant Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam led by actor Vijay.
