The Department of Disaster Management and Rehabilitation in Mizoram has sounded an alert following heavy rains and hailstorms in the state. All deputy commissioners have been instructed to activate District Emergency Operation Centres (DEOCs) swiftly to ensure rapid emergency response.
The state is expected to experience light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, from March 13-19 as predicted by the weather office. The advisory noted the likelihood of continued rainfall and intermittent hailstorms at various locations across Mizoram.
Officials were advised to remain on high alert while ensuring financial aid quickly reaches families affected by the storms. Residents are warned to expect waterlogging and traffic challenges during this period.
