Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma underscored the unity of Mizo communities worldwide during the Thangram Cultural Meet in Assam's Karimganj district. The event, themed 'Unau Kan Ni' (We Are Brethren), was organized by the Thangram Indigenous Peoples Movement and highlighted the shared ethnic identity of Mizo sub-tribes.

Lalduhoma traced the settlement history of these communities to the 15th century and emphasized the invisible yet unbreakable ethnic boundaries that transcend political lines. The chief minister announced the establishment of the Mizo Diaspora Cell to support Mizo communities living outside Mizoram.

TIPM President K Vana Chorei hailed the visit as significant, highlighting the isolation felt by these communities. Issues of government neglect and aspirations for mergers with Mizoram were raised, pointing to a deep, ongoing ethnic and cultural connection that needs acknowledgment and action.
