In a significant development for public health in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled an initiative under the Jal Jeevan Mission to provide pure drinking water to every resident in the state.

Addressing the media with Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil, Adityanath emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring that all revenue villages, over 10,000 of which already have pipeline access, receive clean water. Importantly, the project mandates contractors to maintain their infrastructure for ten years post-completion, ensuring long-term reliability and service.

This move comes as Uttar Pradesh fights against waterborne diseases such as encephalitis, previously exacerbated by contaminated water and open defecation. Adityanath credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, citing the success of Swachh Bharat Mission initiatives in reducing mortality rates linked to impure water.
