As preparations ramp up for the assembly elections, Congress leader Udit Raj has issued a clarion call for unity within the party. During a statement to ANI on Wednesday, Raj emphasized that personal grievances should take a back seat, with the primary focus on protecting the country's principles and the Constitution.

Raj stressed the significance of the upcoming polls in Assam, among other states, describing the electoral showdown as a decisive battle to 'save the country and the Constitution.' Highlighting the magnitude of the political fight, he noted that the Congress party, despite its internal dynamics, remains steadfast in its objectives.

The political landscape in Assam is set for a fierce contest between the ruling BJP-led NDA government and the Congress party for control over the 126-seat assembly. The incumbent administration under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma seeks a third term, while Congress aims to reclaim power. The Assembly elections, a single phased event, will occur on April 9, with vote counting scheduled for May 4.
