Tragic Chain of Events Leads to Suspected Suicide in Poinachi

A shocking discovery was made in Poinachi when a couple was found hanging in their residence, in what police suspect was a suicide. This tragic event unfolds months after their son died in a train accident, leaving the family in emotional turmoil.

The couple, identified as Venugopalan N M (50) and Smitha M (39), had been grappling with depression following the death of their 19-year-old son in December last year. A relative found them hanging in the house around 9:30 a.m., and a suicide note was recovered, citing their son’s death as the reason for their despair.

Melaparamba police have registered a case of unnatural death and are actively pursuing an investigation. The bodies of the deceased will be handed over to their relatives following a postmortem examination, as the community grapples with this profound loss.
