A new report by Naukri.com has shed light on the persistent issue of pay parity across workplaces in India. The survey, involving 50,000 women across more than 50 industries, found that a majority (67%) believe that pay parity exists. However, 33% of respondents report a significant pay gap, particularly in sectors like real estate and pharmaceuticals.
The report, titled 'What Women Professionals Want,' highlights a growing demand for equal pay audits and menstrual leave, with demand rising from 19% to 27%. This is most vocal among women in higher pay brackets. Additionally, many women remain hesitant to disclose personal plans due to fears of bias during job interviews.
While challenges like biased hiring practices remain palpable, 83% of women express encouragement to pursue leadership roles, a significant increase from the previous year. The report underscores the ambition and determination of women despite systemic challenges.
