The office of the Tamil Nadu Governor, RN Ravi, has expressed concerns regarding the state's appointment processes for Vice-Chancellors at Bharathiar, Bharathidasan, and Periyar Universities, alleging violations of court orders.
The Governor's statement emphasizes that the University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations require a nominee from the UGC Chairman on such committees, and non-compliance with these guidelines renders appointments 'void ab initio', according to the Supreme Court.
The Governor's office urges the Tamil Nadu government to amend the search committee compositions to include a UGC nominee or suspend proceedings until the Supreme Court resolves the dispute.
