Tripura has emerged as the frontrunner among northeastern states in implementing the PM-KUSUM scheme aimed at boosting solar energy use in agriculture. Chief Minister Manik Saha announced the state's achievement, emphasizing the government's dedication to clean energy and sustainable development.
The scheme, managed by the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Authority (TREDA), provides farmers with subsidized solar pumps, replacing diesel-run pumps. This shift not only reduces irrigation costs and pollution but also increases farmers' incomes.
At a recent Regional Workshop in Guwahati, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath accepted the award from Union Minister for Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, marking a significant milestone for the state's renewable energy efforts.
