Severe Cyclonic Storm Montha is rapidly approaching the Andhra Pradesh coast, with its current position recorded by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) at 180 km south-southeast of Kakinada. The cyclonic system is expected to make landfall near Kakinada later today, bringing with it wind speeds of up to 100 kmph.
In response to the anticipated impact, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has mobilized government officials, directing them to assist in relief efforts across the 39 constituencies expected to be affected by heavy rainfall. Naidu held a teleconference with state leaders, urging them to act promptly and communicate effectively during this critical period.
Efforts are already underway to ensure public safety, with evacuation advisories issued for vulnerable areas such as Kothapatnam village. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed for assistance, and local authorities have closed access to damaged roads to prevent accidents. Preparedness measures are extending to district levels, ensuring coordinated responses to Cyclone Montha's impact.
