Cyclonic Storm Montha has intensified over the west-central Bay of Bengal, escalating to a severe category as it approaches the Andhra Pradesh coast. The storm is predicted to make landfall between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, near Kakinada, on Tuesday evening or night, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The cyclone has been advancing north-northwestwards at 15 kmph, with its center currently positioned approximately 190 km south-southeast of Machilipatnam, as per the IMD's latest update. It is poised to hit the Andhra Pradesh coastline as a severe cyclonic storm, boasting wind speeds of 90-100 kmph and gusts reaching 110 kmph.
