On Monday, Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated a state-of-the-art vegetable and flower seed processing and packaging unit at the National Seeds Corporation (NSC) in Pusa Complex, New Delhi. This initiative marks a significant leap in ensuring high-quality seed supply to farmers nationwide.

In addition to the New Delhi unit, Chouhan virtually inaugurated five other NSC seed processing plants located in Bareilly, Dharwad, Hassan, Suratgarh, and Raichur, each with a capacity of 4 tonnes per hour. During the event, he launched 'Seed Management 2.0' and an online seed booking platform aimed at increasing accessibility and transparency for farmers.

The Union Minister underscored the importance of supplying quality seeds to tackle issues of counterfeit seeds reported in the nation's agricultural sector. Chouhan emphasized that these advancements are crucial to improving the agricultural productivity of small and marginal farmers, aligning with the government's commitment to self-reliance in agriculture.
